Description:
The understanding and implementation of evidence synthesis methods are becoming mandatory for professionals of several fields. This course aims to provide an overview of the methodological steps for performing literature reviews, with a special focus on systematic reviews. The generation of robust and useful evidence for practice relies on the: 
  • The formulation of a research question.
  • Robust search strategies.
  • Appropriate data extraction.
  • Assessment of the methodological quality and risk of bias of primary studies.
  • Qualitative and quantitative synthesis of the evidence.
  • Interpretation of the results obtained.
 
Outputs:
At the end of this seminar, participants should: 
  1. Recognize the role and importante of different types of literature reviews as tools for evidence synthesis.
  2. Understand the steps and components to perform and report a systematic review.
  3. Be familiar with tools to critically appraise studies.
  4. Undertand how to identify gaps in the literature within their field of expertise.
